Nicky has worked as a veterinary nurse and receptionist for over 30 years in the same practice near her former home at The Ewell Veterinary Centre. In that time she has become increasingly involved in all aspects of dog training and behaviour, she has been an associate member of the British Institute of Professional Trainers, passing with 2nd Honours, and is also a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor, which is the first and only Scheme for Dog Training and Canine Behaviour in the UK for Instructors, and has been approved by City & Guilds NPTC! Nicky is also a Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme A-list Examiner for the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels and has developed a Basic Canine First-Aid Course. The aims of the Kennel Club Accredited Instructors Scheme are as follows: Quality – The UK’s quality benchmark for instruction and teaching in the canine world National - The Kennel Club is the first and only approved centre for issuing national awards in dog training and canine behaviour in the UK. Unique – All aspects of an instructor’s experience – both academic and ‘real life’ - count towards accreditation
"All of my classes are designed for companion/pet dogs and their owners. Companion Dog Training classes are designed to teach you how to teach your dog to become a well behaved family pet, one that is a joy to own and a pleasure to take anywhere. To enable a true reflection of the problems encountered whilst owning a dog, all of my classes are based at ’live locations’ and not the artificial environment of a hall. All teaching and training methods are reward based to encourage correct motivation and learning, thereby creating strong boundaries from the onset of training. By using these kind effective methods, training becomes fun for both dog and owner. Harsh compulsive methods are not used and the use of check/choke chains are not allowed."
